Description
Dwarf Hold (beneath
Regent Hill) 14
Most of these
blocks is
closer to motels than homes. The constant
turnover of Shield Knights, footman and servants means that no place is
really
a "home" (10% turn over per month) Some knights travel with their
wives and children when they are garrisoned in the
city
and Selid-Din
makes this easy for them. There is a permanent crew of 50 servants who
help
knights and their entourage
settle in, get acquainted
with customs and the city and keep the knights comfortable and trouble
free.
The Knights
are given a little more room and each block holds only 150 people. Each
block
has a stable for personal steeds, a commissary and a private room for
the
Knights. The Knights men share a common room and the servants a
separate common
room. A blacksmith is also stationed in each block as well.
There are a few portions of the district with more permanent, and affluent, residents.

Very successful, he lives in the Regent District and
houses his vessels in the Docks. Work for adventuruers

is said he was instrumental in some of the Great

The
Keep of the Regent
is a
extremely bold and strong edifice that dominates the city of

A
layer of large, wild
bushes grow among the base of
the Keep Walls. This is actually 50 Shambling Mounds placed here by the
Druids
as guards for the Keep. No one climbs the walls.
The grey stone of the keep contrasts with the white and red banners of the Shield Knights that line wall and tower. The highest Tower, of the Keep itself, flies the flag of the Selid-Din. Next to it is the Flag of Nyrond and the Flag of the Screaming Griffon Fellowship. The walls are always well guarded as is the stone courtyard and huge Tower of the Regent.
Gatehouse &
Towers
All
Tower Guards sleep
in the Towers. There are 100
Footmen and various lower level knights permanently stationed on the
walls and
within the courtyard. They use dogs, the Griffon Riders above, falcons
and the
Royal Wizier
to insure security. As an aside, there
are normally various smaller fairies about that tend to watch the Keep
closely
as well (invisible).
Steel Net
Finally,
the Steel
Net descends every night
over the
keeps top.
The net is a creation of
the Steel Lord and is a fine and flexible mesh of Steel that furls into
the 6th
floor of the Pinnacle tower along 4 solid steel cables. The net is
magical
metal +1 and immune to rust. Many hundreds of the links have been
blessed with
a Daylight Spell (5th
lvl) by Shammash
Priests so the tower seems to glow and the net is barely visible (Spot
DC 15).
The Steel Net has been imbued with the Wall Enhancement Magic Warding,
Improved
(Builders Guide – 50k total cost) which grants the entire
keep a SR32
when dropped. This enchantment was actually placed on the winches so
that the
nets could be remade if destroyed.
(Units
mentioned are from Builders Guide)
All
servants at the Keep
undergo a thorough
inspection by the Questionnaires but no torture. They are nearly all
good and
hand picked from the finest people (not necessarily the most gifted).
The
Regent and Regentess surround themselves with people the like and
trust. Many
have been charmed or are currently charmed by the Regent and Regentess
as they
tend to last a long period. The Royal Couple consider those working
within the
Keep as family and protect them energetically.
The
following servants
and people come under Morgannas
Leadership:
All servants, approximately 1-2 per year, are removed from their duties for a week or two period. During this time they are brought to the Court Wizier Gradik and kept in the extra dimensional apartments beneath the keep. Here they are fed and treated very well, allowed to rest and reflect, but are kept in isolation. They are told why…as their memories are modified when they leave to remember nothing.
Meanwhile,
the Chambermaids will assume their
role with the “perfect Impersonation” power and
pretend they are
the servant. Should it be discovered the servant is a spy or traitor,
the
evidence is gathered and their vacation becomes a prison. Charms are
also used
to befriend the servants while imprisoned 9they are treated very well!)
to
determine loyalty.
